A pack of 3.5mm connectors used to attach pixels to most common pixel controllers and differential receivers.
There are two kinds of connectors offered:
- Normal: the normal Phoenix connector that comes with the controllers. This is a low profile connector using small screws to clamp the wires into the connector.
- Advanced: a newer connector that uses internal springs to clamp the wire into the connector. The connector has buttons along the top to “open” the springs to allow insertion of the wires. This is most easily done with a “Jig” that will hold all three of the springs open while the wires are inserted.
The Advanced connectors are a little taller than the Normal connectors. That can affect how controllers can be mounted in cases as that may prevent cases lids from being closed. The Advanced connectors can be quicker, but also can take a bit of practice to get the feel for how to push the connector onto the Jig (requires a bit of force to push in all three buttons) as well as for how far to push the wires in before release. The wires need to be pushed in as far as possible and held there while released off the jig.
For the “Advanced” connectors, two styles of Jig’s are offered:
- Single sided – holds four connectors ready for wires, all on one side
- Double sided – The 3pin jig holds eight connectors ready for wires, four on each side. The 4pin holds 3 on each side.
See Video for an introduction to the Advanced pixel connectors.
